Part-Time Faculty
Part-Time Position: Arabic Adjunct Instructor

The GMU-RAK Campus is seeking part time faculty to teach Arabic language courses for non native speakers beginning October 2008.
The selected candidates must have at least a Masters in Arabic Literature or Linguistics, or in a related field with at least 18 hours of graduate courses in Arabic.
Requirements
At least one year of college teaching experience. Ability to teach Elementary and/or intermediate level Arabic. Good English skills in reading, writing and communication. Fluency in Modern Standard Arabic (written and spoken). A knowledge of Arabic geography and culture and a familiarity with Arabic and English software and keyboards. An ability to use technology in the classroom. A willingness to participate in study abroad programs would be a recommendation. Courses will entail 3 to 6 hours per week.
Responsibilities include advising students, developing curriculi in Arabic, overseeing placement exams and other Arabic language teaching services. The selected candidates will work closely with the coordinator of the Arabic language program on the main campus in Fairfax, Virginia.

Requirements
All positions must meet the following qualifications along with any specific qualifications noted for each position: excellent English skills, verbal and written; a commitment to contribute to building a new American higher education institution in Ras Al Khaimah, and an ability to interact collegially with the Campus community.
Applicants are expected to evidence appropriate academic credentials (earned doctorate or terminal degree from an American accredited institution OR attested equivalent) which must be produced prior to appointment. For the appointment at the Associate Professor level, individual must demonstrate teaching effectiveness, at least 7 to 10 years of teaching experience and research output.
