I'm the Vice President and Social Chair of the GMU swim club and coach on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm also a Junior here at George Mason University studying IT. I was born in Hawaii but I grew up not far from here in Woodbridge VA. I went to Forest Park High School in Woodbridge and was on the swim team there. I also swam for and was captain for the Amberjax Swim Club which is a year-round team. My permanent residence is in Manassas about 12 minutes from the PW campus. I do live on the Fairfax campus in Piedmont which is one of the new buildings that just opened this semester. My main goal for the swim club is to bring the team closer together. I want the members of this team to know and be able to develop a relationship with each other. I'm going to do my best to make the practices fun but also challenging. I don't want anyone leaving practice without having learned something new whether it be my favorite color or something to make your stroke better. To bring the club closer together, I'm going to set up activities throughout each semester including winter break. These activities include participating in the Relay for Life and also fund raising for the club itself. After select practices, all members are invited to join in a social event at a restaurant. This will be a good way to get to know everyone in the club and stuff your faces at the same time. I coach on Saturdays. I’m a Junior studying IT here at GMU. I swam competitively for Curl Burke Swim Club for 12 years and for Robinson High School for 3 years. I was co-captain of the RHS swim team my senior year. I medaled in Regions every year I swam for Robinson. In my junior year, I won Districts in the 200 Free. In college, I swam my Freshman year at Mount Holyoke where I was the Regis Invitational High Point Champion. I have a very long history coaching and teaching swimming. I am Red Cross WSI and ASCA Level 1 certified. I’ve been coaching swimming for 6 years and teaching swimming for 7. This combination of experience has given me a real love and appreciation for the sport. My personal and work experiences have given me a real feel for what will produce results, and what won’t. My goal is to pass this knowledge on to you.
